Our History

More than 40 years in the industry

We started as a company that develops real estate projects, mainly industrial, in Cd. Juarez, Chihuahua, in April 1984. We were practically pioneers in the development of the maquiladora industry, because it was still in a very early stage when we became a business. We started the company with many limitations, as our initial capitalization was only $50,000.00 USD, which the founder of the company, Juan Alvarez Gottwald, obtained from a second mortgage on his house.

Initially we bought existing buildings which we repaired and remodeled to make them suitable for industrial use. Thus, starting from a very precarious base, we grew until we reached the moment of constructing buildings designed specifically for industrial use, which we initially built with cement blocks. However, with an always entrepreneurial and innovative spirit, we were the first company in Cd. Juarez to build industrial warehouses under the "tilt-up" construction system.

During the nineties, we had a stage of great expansion. In 1992, we acquired the company “Everco de México” and with it an important property located in Cd. Satélite; this building still exists in our portfolio. Shortly after in 1994, we acquired the Ansell company and changed its name to Axiom, S.A. de C.V.. Axiom has become the most dynamic and important company in our Group of companies.

As in the 1990s, our companies are experiencing a stage of great growth due to the new North American trade agreement, the “USMCA”, between Mexico, the United States, and Canada. Additionally, American and other foreign companies are reorganizing their supply chains because it now sees China as a geopolitical adversary instead of a key trading partner. These factors have created the “nearshoring” phenomenon that will last, in our opinion, for decades to come.

From our modest beginnings to date, 39 years later, during which we have experienced adversity and countless economic crises, both domestically and internationally, we have managed to consolidate a company with a strong present and a bright future, as we estimate our fixed assets have a current market value of more than $100,000,000.00 USD.
